So far, I haven’t been accepted into Indiana’s School of Music or UT’s, which doesn’t particularly surprise me. Out of all my “reaches”, I’m still waiting to hear from Oberlin but it’s very doubtful I’ll get in. My VCU audition went really well and I love the school, but I’m not sure it’s the right place for me as a cellist. My JMU audition also went well, but I hate the school. I’m pretty sure I was accepted into GMU, but it’s too close to home.
It’s becoming clearer and clearer that it probably isn’t the time for me to be a music major. I think I should major in something else I have a passion for, minor in music, and get my Master’s in music later. I just don’t think I’m competitive enough for that type of environment. I’ve also been doubting my commitment to music, since I feel like I haven’t really been able to develop the way I should have been. I just really don’t know. Everyone is asking me where I’m going to school and I really have no fucking clue. I just want to be somewhere where I’m happy and able to develop as a person as well as a musician. I guess I’m putting all my hopes into Brooklyn/Macaulay. We’ll see.
